West Coast

Friday, December 30 was another perfect day for flying. We made a quick flight to the west coast of Florida, probably our last flight of 2005.

Here you can see some low fog over one of the many lakes south of Orlando, Florida. The fog had burned off by the time we made our return trip home.

Executive Airport

Tuesday, December 27 was a perfect day for flying. The skies were clear and our airplane, fresh from its annual, was running like a dream. We flew from Merritt Island to Fort Lauderdale Executive airport to visit with our nieces Danielle and Maddie and nephew Noah. We ate lunch together at Tarpon Bend restaurant then spent the afternoon at the Museum of Discovery and Science. A good time was had by all!

Lunch photo taken with Aunt Marcie's new razrV3 cell phone.

Checking out the airplane with Uncle Mike and smiling from ear to ear. Let's go flying soon!

Sky Mom

Mike and I flew to South Florida this morning to pick up my Mom for Thanksgiving. Here you see her ready for boarding the first class section, Row 2, Seat A. The flight was wonderful even though it was a wee bit windy. Bumps and all, Dixie says it sure beats driving! Below is a view of our approach into Merritt Island.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Cecil Field Miss Mooney took several flights to Jacksonville this week for the National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA) competition. Her pilot, Tony, is the Safety Judge. Here you see him hard at work while Miss Mooney relaxes on the tarmac alongside a naval plane.

Fall Colors

Fall Colors This weekend we flew to Gatlinburg, TN to see the fall colors. It was peak season and the leaves were spectacular! The sky was crystal clear on the flight up so we had a spectacular view of the mountains from 8000 feet. Here you can also see our approach into Gatlinburg airport and its tree-lined runway; the view of the Smoky Mountains from our room at the Park Vista Hotel; and a peaceful view of the clouds during our flight back home.

While driving through the mountains, we just happened to be interviewed by a local television station and were on the 11 o'clock news! The short video clip has been posted on their website - here is the link: http://www.volunteertv.com/global/video/popup/pop_player.asp?ClipID1=575799&h1=Fall%20Colors&vt1=v&at1=News&d1=95867&LaunchPageAdTag=News&activePane=info&playerVersion=9&rnd=12963172 It's a hoot - check it out before it is gone!
